General
Before digital hard-disc recording was even imagined, all studio recording and production relied on good old tape. Tape was not just incredibly fiddly to work with, it was also expensive. And, following the dawn of much cheaper digital production, there's a whole generation of engineers that have never even seen, let alone worked with tape. But that doesn't mean that they don't know about that very particular warmth and saturation that tape lends to the feel of recorded sound. Tape is less sterile, is able to inject more punch, and has that natural analogue vibe to it. To equip digital producers with that old-school vibe, Slate Digital present the VTM Tape Machine: a plug-in that's able to lovingly simulate the unmistakable texture of tape running through a vintage reel-to-reel machine.
